Low noise Climaveneta Chillers and Stifab
Farex Chilled Beams from Powermaster are integral elements
in the eco-friendly redevelopment of the ‘India of Inchinnan’
Grade A Listed building, claimed the most famous Art Deco
landmark in Scotland.
Consultant KJ Tait specified two Air Cooled
Chillers together with Chilled Beams from the Powermaster
range to provide comfort cooling for the entire development.
The SRAT 1302/SL Chillers each provide an
output of 200kW and feature a one-sided air intake design
to allow installation within the restricted plant well space.
The building dates back to 1930 and has historical importance.
Because of it’s age, the main existing building incorporates
an unusually thin structural slab, requiring that low operating
noise was a key specification to minimise any potential disturbance.
A combination of passive and active Chilled
Beam units are installed throughout the development. These
have been set into a curved profiled bulkhead to blend well
with the ‘airship’ roof-shaped ceiling structure
and carry the office lighting for the building. In the core
areas BRT active beams with infill sections are connected
in a continuous run along the length of the inner section
of the building to provide both cooling and fresh air. Throughout
the main office areas the FRB passive beams give the impression
of a structural beam while providing cooling.
