To remedy the demand for increased cooling capacity at Southampton General Hospital, a low-noise Climaveneta Chiller was supplied. With such rapid growth to the hospital, expansion of the cooling system was essential to maintain efficiency.

The addition of the new Chiller has brought the hospital’s cooling capacity up to the required level, increasing output from 3500kW to 4400kW providing discrete, low noise operation and high-quality comfort cooling for key areas of the hospital site.

The Chiller was specified by consulting engineer, MFD International, because of its low noise operation but also being of air-cooled design it provided a logical, fail safe back-up to support the existing water-cooled chillers on site. The 900kW Chiller, model SRAT 3403/SL, features screw compressors located within an internal soundproofed compartment, ensuring the units operate quietly.
