Two Gas-Driven Climaveneta Chillers have
been specified by consulting engineer Helix Services Consulting
to provide a cost effective, comfort cooling solution for
the refurbishment of an administration building for brewing
giant Guinness UDV at their Park Royal site in London.
The building’s fixed electrical supply
gave insufficient capacity for a conventional chiller installation
without significant, expensive and time consuming upgrading
work. Therefore, two GCH 60/SL Air-Cooled Gas-Driven Chillers
operating with R407c, which incorporate an open-drive compressor
powered by a high efficiency gas engine, were supplied as
the perfect alternative.
Each Chiller is capable of delivering 160kW
of cooling; comfortably meeting the requirements of the Fan
Coil Air Conditioning System specified for the building. GCH
Chillers come in capacities from 103 to 276kW and feature
shell and tube evaporators, axial fans and microprocessor
control.
Located on the roof of the building, the
chillers are purpose-designed to guarantee low noise operation
and the gas engine compressor section is isolated within it’s
own enclosure. The enclosure is insulated and soundproofed
to ensure overall levels are at or below 73dBa at 1m.
